banned just for splitting up a party in order to double drops? there's no 3rd party program involved? O_o Who wouldn't do that if they knew... I must be missing something here

Here is the farewell post by minidragon.
It's sad to see all that effort end like this.

Now that the initial excitement has died down, I think it has proved to be a bit unfair; Kaeko made a very thoughtful post expressing that. You hear it from all types of players that SE wants players to buy gil (e.g., nerfing blood prices, extreme fishing fatigue for new accounts, etc.), and that they can only hold the playerbase by creating horrible drop rates, and I am starting to wonder.

Honestly, I don't blame them for using the glitch. I wouldn't use it myself and jeopardize my account, but I can understand the incentive to do it. It's a bit ridiculous on SE's part to punish so many players for abusing a glitch in the Salvage system, when SE is abusing their time and patience (I mean, honestly, going 1/170 on Healing Breeze pissed me off; wasting your time and your friends' time in Salvage for an even longer collective amount of time is worse).

In the end, I hope all those who were affected by this benefit from it somehow.

Derzerb: Agreed. I never understood why some people disliked Minidragon. I've never heard anything negative about him and his members, nor have I heard complaints from his small linkshell--just some undefined spite of him. He sounds like a respectable individual, and made a pleasant exit speech.

From the sounds of those posts and from what I've read on various forums, it seems like SE is just randomly banning some people who aren't even duping, even though they claim to have a year's worth of records to back them up. If they have those records, surely they could tell who's being legit and who's trying to break the system.

The guy who brings up "FFXI is dying, you need the money SE" has a point.

There goes most of the simpathy I may have had for his banning

I just wonder why people keep thinking a MMORPG like FF11 will be without errors in some sort of way - People whine about how it's all Square Enix's fault for making the mistakes, but I wonder how many games, software programs, browsers, OS you have seen that works perfect without some kind of faults?

<3 kitha, probably one of the nicest guys ive met on this game.

anyway its been argued to death on both sides, and both have very valid points, it just comes down to the punishment does not fit the crime. its probably common knowledge that just about everyone who was banned is sorry for the crime, and doesnt wanna get off scot free, and it just doesnt make sense for them to ban this extensively for something that in the end is their fault as much as it is to the player base who abused it. (i know ethy no program is perfect), blame rest with both sides, but the punishment is completely one sided. i agree with what alot of people have said for a punishment, temp ban plus removal of all the ill acquired salvage gear. In the end no matter what anyone says it all comes back to square, and as we all know...THEY DONT GIVE A SHIT WHAT THEIR PLAYERBASE THINKS!.

The only thing I wonder about is if the bans were spread equally among the Japanese and Americans. Looking at the list (and mind you I'm still faily new) but it seems most of the names are english players.

Now these lists are semi incomplete as these american sites had to research for them, but one has to wonder if it really is spread evenlly.
