What is LimbusLimbus is comprised of two zones: Temenos and Apollyon. Items can be obtained here that can be redeemed for upgraded Artifact Armor and Rare/Ex equipment. Each zone has separate areas leading to a "central" area, eventually leading to a boss fight with a prototype biotechnological weapon. Items obtained from these bosses can be redeemed for pieces of two high-level sets of armor called Homam and Nashira.

What is Required to Participate? To enter Limbus areas, you must fufill the following conditions:
*Must be on Chapter 8 of Chains of Promathia or later.
*A Cosmo-Cleanse (Key Item, Purchased from Sagheera in Port Jeuno for 15,000 gil)
*A Colored Key Card (Key Item, Dropped from Aw'euvhi NMs in Sea)
NOTE: We gather the Key Cards together before the start of every run once we teleport out from Port Jeuno._______________________________________________________
Limbus RulesMaximum Number of Players: 18 (one full Alliance)
Time: Your alliance will begin most areas with a time limit of thirty minutes (Earth time), save for areas in Central Temenos (45 minutes) and Central Apollyon and Central Temenos - 4th Floor (60 minutes). These amounts may be increased through time extensions gained by opening certain chests throughout each route. (Maximum possible time currently unknown.)
Entering: Upon entering, both key items are lost. This is like a BCNM area in that if you leave, you cannot re-enter (unless your connection is lost, and can reconnect before the originating party's time expires.) In addition,
if someone has not entered when the first monster is attacked/aggroed, they will not be able to enter and receive a message stating that the party is already engaged in battle.Reentering: 72 hours (Earth time) must pass after you enter a Limbus battlefield and consequently losing your Cosmo-Cleanse Key Item before you may obtain another Cosmo-Cleanse again from Sagheera and prepare to enter another Limbus area.
Clearing: Upon opening the area's final treasure chest, the Limbus area will be cleared and you will automatically exit into the lobby where you may distribute the resulting treasure.
Death: As with Dynamis, Experience Points continue to be lost if you are defeated within Limbus. It is not possible to gain experience points through defeating enemies in these areas.
Trading chips: Once chip(s) are traded to gain access for an advanced area, those chips lose their power, and become useless. Chips used to gain entry to the boss areas, Central Apollyon and Central Temenos - 4th Floor, all chips must be traded by the same person. So, when collecting chips from various Limbus areas, take care that the same person receives the appropriate chips.
Armoury Crates: are scattered throughout each Limbus area. The rules for their behavior vary in each different area. Contents of chests can usually be determined by their color, as follows:
*Blue with Gold lining: Time Extension (5, 10, or 15 minutes)
*Dark Brown with Gold lining: Items (AF+1 mats, ABCs, Chips, and Synth Mats)
*Light Brown with Silver lining: HP/MP recovery and
all Job Ability timers reset
Please note that Armoury Crates may transform into Mimics (SW Apollyon - 3rd Floor) while others may trigger enemies to be spawned (Central Temenos - 4th Floor). In some areas, opening a chest causes other crates and/or enemies to disappear, forcing you to choose one per level. Because of this, please NEVER open a chest unless being specificly requested to by a run leader.5 Things expected of you for each and every run:1. Cosmo Cleanse! (aka. Soap)
2. Reraise! (2-3 Charges!)
3. Appropriate Food! (Everyone!)
4. Medicines! (Echo Drops, Holy Waters etc)
5. Ninja Tools! (If applicable)

Limbus RewardsAncient Beastcoins:These can be used along with the Artifact Armor +1 Materials to create Artifact +1 armor, or used as currency to trade with the NPC "Sagheera" in Port Jeuno for some fantastic items.
More information on the Ancient Beastcoin items:
http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/SagheeraArtifact Armor +1 Materials:These drop from certain chests within Limbus, they are job specific and you need two different items relating to your job in order to create a piece of Artifact +1 armor, one from Apollyon, and one from Temenos.
More info on Artifact Armor +1:
http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/wiki/Categ ... Armor_%2B1Ultima & Omega Chips:These are attained from winning Limbus runs, you need to have a total of 4 chips to comprise a pop set that will allow you to enter a fight against Proto-Omega, and a total of 6 for Proto-Ultima. You get one chip per run, and the type of chip you get after defeating the boss is based on the run you choose, so doing the same run will always produce the same Chip at the end.
Homam/Nashira Armor PiecesIf we succeed in defeating Ultima or Omega, a chest will appear that will contain an assortment of body parts from the enemy you just defeated. Gross right? Well, luckily there is someone in Mhaura that wants these awfully bad, and is willing to trade you pieces of the amazing Homam and Nashira sets to take them off your hands! These pieces are amazing, and are truly worth the effort to attain.

Reward DistributionAncient Beastcoins: These would be pooled during the run by the run leader, and split evenly at the end between all attending members.
Artifact Armor +1 Materials: These would be lotted on a "pick two, win one" system, and by that I mean your /seacom would look something like this:
Katsuko (75 Black Mage/37 Red Mage)
1. BLM
2. THFYou would be able to lot on either material that drops, but as soon as you win one, you could no longer lot the other. This would be to ensure that everyone has a fair shot at attaining these items.
If an AF+1 item drops that isn't in an attending members /seacom, or is a duplicate and members who needed it had already picked it up on that run, you will hear a run leader call "Open Lot" in party chat. This
DOES NOT mean it is free lot. This would allow anyone else with said job 65+ to lot on the item.
After an additional 2 minutes has passed without anyone lotting the item, the run leader will call "Free Lot", and at that point the item is free for anyone to cast lots on. Please consider people in the linkshell that may be actively leveling said job but are below Lv65 before lotting a material "just to have it". Before lotting for a material, please be sure you will have a use for it.
Ultima & Omega Chips: These will be lotted and held by run leaders, and in the event that they all hold a chip for that given run already, members with outstanding attendance would be asked to lot them. This is just to ensure that the member with the popset is present when we would like to use it.
Homam/Nashira Armor Pieces:We will be taking attendance on each run, and have formulated a points system where you will "spend" attendance points in order to lot the body parts needed to attain the corresponding Homam/Nashira piece. Please see the points thread for more details.

Update Notes5/28/2009 - If anyone should miss a month or more worth of Limbus (8 runs or more runs in succession), your point status will move to "inactive". You must attend 3 standard Limbus runs prior to being able to lot Homam and Nashira gear once again.
8/20/2009 - Slimed down the rules and made areas like the colored cards clearer for new members.
